The Contest will begin on May 1, 2017, and all entries must be received in the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Office by 4:30 PM on October 13, 2017 (the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s final apparition). Please print entrant’s name and phone number on the back of the artwork.
To enter, please print and complete an Art Contest Entry Form and submit the entry form along with your original artwork. A parent or guardian must sign the Entry Form. Signature indicates that entrant and/or guardian has read all rules and agrees to abide by them. You can also enter by printing entrant’s name, date of birth, age, address, city, state, zip code and telephone number, along with your parent or guardian’s signature, on a 3” x 5” card or piece of paper. Signature indicates that entrant and/or guardian has read all rules and agrees to abide by them.
All entries must be received no later than 4:30 PM on October 13, 2017. All entries must be original material. No mechanical reproductions permitted. Only one entry per child.
The theme of the art must be of events or people surrounding Our Lady’s apparitions. Some suggestions of events or items are the rosary, the dancing sun, our stained glass windows, our tabernacle, the large statue of Our Lady in front of the church, the vignette of Our Lady and the three children outside the Miller Street entrance, the statue of Our Lady in the church, our Fatima Holy Doors, the depiction of the apparitions to Sr. Lucia in 1925 and in 1929. These are just some suggestions but all entries must have a Fatima theme. Any kind of medium can be used. All entries must be original material as nothing pulled from the internet will be accepted. For the youngest group (Ages 4 -6), there will be drawings depicting some of these themes for use; these will be available in the office after May 1. However, this group is not limited to using these.
Winners will be selected on or about October 21, 2017, from all eligible entries received by October 13, 2017. Judging will be done on the basis of interpretation of the contest theme, composition quality and originality. The prize determination will be conducted based on the criteria above by judges that OLF selects. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
Prizes shall be awarded for each of the following four age groups: Ages 4 - 6, Ages 7 - 9, Ages 10 - 13 and Ages 14 - 18.
Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email on or about October 27, 2017.
Prizes will be awarded at the potluck after the 11:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on October 29, 2017 when Archbishop Aquila will close the Pilgrimage Doors.
Return of prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are nonassignable and nontransferable. No substitutions allowed, except that prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and OLF reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of the judges. OLF reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by OLF.
